Our restaurant located at the Tempus Two winery, in the heart of the Hunter Valley, it has become a favourite for locals and visitors alike. Whether dining inside the minimalist Asian themed dining hall or on the outside undercover terrace overlooking the vines and an architecturally designed amphitheatre, Oishii has become a “must dining experience”. The fast take away options are delicious.

Bo arrived from Phuket, Thailand in 1992 to visit her sister in Newcastle and instantly falls in love with Australia. Soon an Australian investor discovered her talent to look after restaurant patrons and offered her a partnership to open the first Aloy Thai restaurant in Darby St., Newcastle. The restaurant became popular overnight and won many industry awards in the following years. The success led to create Aloy Thai franchise restaurants in Terrigal, Nelson Bay and Swansey.
In 2000 she opened her first Japanese restaurant in Hunter St., Newcastle. Her Sushi service became a hit and led to be invited to concert catering at Whydam Estate where she met the owners of Tempus Two in the Hunter Valley. They offered her and her investor to open the first and only Asian restaurant in the valley. While contemplating if it should be a Thai or Japanese restaurant they decided to do both to be on the safe side. In order to focus on the new venture they sold all restaurants to family members. Or franchisees.
In 2005 she met Wolfgang Grimm AM and they acquired the business and created a family owned and operated restaurant together with their son Patrick.
We are a family owned and operated restaurant and offer authentic Japanese and Thai cuisine with friendly service and popular prices. Our Asian chefs have composed an extensive menu of lightly prepared fragrant dishes showcasing many regional produce. In true Asian style our dishes are perfect for sharing and ideal for families and friends.
Our Chefs - Oishii Restaurant Hunter Valley. We do not use flavour enhancements like MSG and accommodate vegetarian and other dietary requirements. Our regular customers' favourites are the Sushi and Sashimi selection, Panang Duck and Massaman Beef Curries, Seafood Teriyaki and Steak Teppan Yaki.

We chose chicken satay skewers, pad Thai prawn, red duck curry, chicken cashew stir fry and green chicken curry. All of the meals were amazing. Only 5 mins drive from our accommodation it was easy to pick up and well worth it for a great night in! ”

“ Simply can't think why we have never eaten here before. We were taken by friends who are residents of Pokolbin and the place was full of locals dining at their favourite restaurant before the start of the Christmas holiday season. The tempura prawns are divine, the salmon carpaccio is a plateful of sublime taste. For mains the Massaman beef curry is a huge bowl of unctious tastes and flavours and the Tamarind king prawns was the most ordered dish on our table. We shall return because there are so many more great sounding dishes on the menu that we want to try. ”
“ Good food and good ambiance. During our trip the food we had here was worth remembering one. Pleasing. We had the regular food which we all Asians like. A nice bowl of Pad Thai and a Chicken fried Rice. Rice we all love! The food service and ambiance was good. Parking was available freely and did I mention that is property has the best view so far. My better half had a blast getting her pictures taken here. ”
